Planning - Initial Story Boards
Below are our story boards from beginning to the end of the song 'She Moves In Her Own Way', the music video is mainly narrative based with jump shots to the band performing. This mix is similar to the music videos of The Kooks, and the storyline strongly relates to the lyrics. The story boards will help us when on set and on location whilst filming, and act as an reference for up coming camera shots and new scenes. These are only initial story boards, we may produce more detailed ones when filming to that the narrative is precise and accurate.

Textual Analysis; Digipak Design for Razorlight
Razorlight have been associated with The Kooks for being of similar genre and target audience. So much so that they have been in several media court cases over copyright and music infringement. We thought they would be relevant to research into because of this. These are two front covers from Razorlight albums, both feature black and white imagery and simplistic framing. This is effective as it creates a successful band image and relationship but also a serious tone within the shot, especially second one. This could represent that they take the music seriously and are committed to playing music. The placement of the band's name and album name is right in the primary optical area so buyers can easily spot the album, or potential buyers could be interested because it's easy to find. On the second album the band's name headlines the cover, again covering the primary optical area. The black and white colour scheme makes the font stand out, it also makes it clear and easy to read. There is house style between both album covers even though they are different albums, this makes the target market recognise the Razorlight signature. In both photos the use of precise photography creates a clear, focused picture - especially the second one. This has a simplistic effect on the front cover but has a professional finish, as the lighting, costume and studio have been made and edited around the band and the photo shoot.

Textual Analysis; Advert for Cheryl Cole's New Album
This is an album advert for the release of Cheryl Cole's new album, 'Messy Little Raindrops'. The advert has been taken from the website, HMV.com, where is it featured at the on the home page for music. This is a prime area for any new released album to be featured as the audience are drawn to the top and bottom of every page. The advert is design for the Internet as it contains a link which leads on to the purchasing page. The advert represents the artist, the simplistic approach to advertising shows that the album is focused only on the music rather than the press that the artist receives. The colour scheme is feminine and soft, blending together rather than clashing creating a subtle tone of colours. The grey background allows the image of the artist to stand out, and the image is designed to look like she's just entered from the right. This is effective in demonstrating the fast paced lifestyle that Cheryl Cole lives.
Textual Analysis; The Kooks 'Konk' Video Album Advert.
This video advert was created for the purpose of TV and Internet exposure to advertise The Kooks' new album 'Konk'. It's effective in reflecting the bands image and genre by using the same house style as their music video's and digipak. It's narrated by radio 1's lead DJ Zane Lowe who is world renowned for new and up and coming music. The song playing in the background is The Kooks 'Always where i need to be' which gives the audience a taster for what is to come in the new album. The video uses jump cuts throughout representing the band's quick paced lifestyle along with captivating the audience into purchasing the album. The advert ends with Short 3 second shots of each of the band members and the album cover to familiarise the audience with the band.
