Razorlight Music Video; America - Camera Shot Analysis

Interesting angled shot of band and drummer, out of focus in the foreground
but clear in the background. This creates a grungy atmosphere captured
within the frame, and the lighting makes it seem armature but posed.

Medium shot of drummer, the back drop is amplifiers and studio looking,
the drummers attire is messy and laid back, a look we want to recreate
in our own music video.

Long shot of the band, band are off centre so that the audience can view
the setting, the use of the projecting screen again adds a "teenage"
band feel and armature approach but we are aware that this is staged.

Close-up, off centre shot of the singer, light is coming from behind him creating
interesting shadows on the singers face, the shot also includes a microphone
which means it has a purpose as well creating an artistic shot.

This is a great shot for establishing the setting of the studio but also who the
band are and what they get up to in their own time. The mix of technology
and instruments along with the lighting makes the it relaxed and casual.

Preliminary Idea For Album Cover/Digipak

We wanted to create an album cover and digipak, which could be re-created but still related to The Kooks house style seen in their music videos and publicity photos. We felt that these images especially stood out as the setting is simple and could be located in any major city to small towns. Clothing can be interpreted, it reflects a laid back style and captures the young indie boy essence. The camera shot its self frames the band and keeps them central, it is a slightly high angled shot looking down on the band. This is effective as it captures the surrounding. The use of black and white makes the shot look vintage and edgy, and The Kooks also use alot of black and white photography. We want the digipak to be mainly black and white, with possibly hints of red to make the album name stand out amongst the grey scale colours.

Preliminary Idea For Album Advert Release

This is a preliminary design for an album release for the digipak. We have duplicated a photograph of The Kooks and added font and a music company logo. This design would be similar to the actual advert as a company logo would be advertising that they will be selling the album, the black and white photo fits in with the house style which has been seen through out the our research. The photo captures the band and a busy, city location which could be easy re-shot. The font also fits in with the house style and completes the advert by using a "dirty" font on a light background.
